Part A (20%) (1500 words) Curriculum Learning Plan

The aim is to inspire practice through understanding of philosophies, learning and development theories, frameworks, methods, and pedagogies to engage children. Building upon your knowledge of the history and philosophy of early childhood in Australia. Create a curriculum plan built from a combination of the different methods that allow early childhood teachers to strike a balance between instruction teaching and constructive learning. For example, drawing on Reggio for its community and documentation, Montessori for its independent self-directed studies, Waldorf for its integration of the arts, High Scope for its three-step process to ensure purposeful, planned and reflected learning processes. Your curriculum plan should outline the assessment and documentation approach for the assessment of children’s learning and include ‘assessment for learning’, ‘assessment as learning’ and ‘assessment on learning’ (EYLF V2.0) Use the template provided to create your plan ensuring that in this you identify the learning possibilities for your learners. Your curriculum plan should specify the age group and context.
Record a verbal rationale (1000 words) justifying the inclusion the teaching approaches you have chosen in the curriculum plan. Include references in your work. Drawing on research literature, contemporary frameworks, and philosophies, provide your rationale for how best to structure learning and learning spaces for children.
